Follow the progress of our Greenieland St. Patricks Festival Float as it comes to life!

The Greenieland Galway St. Patricks Festival float build has commenced!

Our fantastically creative volunteers have spent their first day at the Cumann na bhFear Men’s Shed Group (http://www.menssheds.ie/find-a-shed/) working out how to build the fourteen feet high Papier-mâché oak tree structure that will be our focal point.

Our float them is the 'Celebration of Growth'.  We will be representing the change of seasons from winter/spring to summer/autumn on our magical Greenieland Oak like tree and there will be featured characters from our book Gordon Goes to Greenieland.  We hope to have loads of kids to help out before and on the day and Greenie will be there to say hello!

The float will be made from a mixture of new and recycled wood, hydro der, insulation tubing, paper, paint, nails and glue amongst other things!

We were amazed by the Men's Shed Group facility, they are 100% community based and are an innovative mix between community education and health promotion projects.
